- Keep your kitten at home until they are fully vaccinated.
- Core vaccines: distemper, rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and rabies.
- Non-core vaccines: feline leukemia, feline immunodeficiency virus, and feline infectious peritonitis.
Multi-Cat Households
For households with multiple cats, we recommend testing new kittens for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus before introducing them to other cats at home. These diseases can spread between cats very easily, so we want to make sure everyone stays healthy.
It is not always easy introducing a kitten to your other cats at home. Cats can be very territorial, so do not rush the process. Keep the kitten separate from other cats at first and allow them to smell each other through a door. Then introduce them while they are in separate carriers. If this goes well, you can let them interact. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to our team at Fallston Veterinary Clinic.
